Oh what a world ~

On Friday my cousin Sally, friend Tara, and I went to Seattle for the Tim McGraw concert. It was AWESOME!!!

Afterwards though sucked. We got back to Sally's truck - which was parked on the 5th floor of the parking garage - to find that some a-hole had broken one of the windows and took all our stuff. Totally sucks because Sally had picked me up after work, so I had my gym bag, changes of clothes, my lunch bag...and yes, stupidly my purse in the truck. (please note that the purse was tucked under the seat).

So, my beloved Coach bag, Old Navy pants, favorite shoes, and much more was taken away. I have had to spend the weekend moving my accounts, putting credit freezes on the credit bureaus (just in case), even getting a new YMCA scan card.

Well Mr. Criminal - sorry to tell you but there wasn't any money, credit cards, debit cards, or ID in the stuff you took. Just personal belongings that won't mean squat to you, but have a lot of meaning to me.

The silver lining - no one was hurt. Insurance will fix the window. I can replace the items stolen. And, I had already used my free punch for my free meal at Happy Teriyaki. Ha, Ha.

Life will go on...and Tim McGraw was again --- AWESOME!

Tomorrow I get to take the day off of work and go to the zoo with my kids. No more tears over this stupid mistake, only joy and laughter that the kids will sure to bring me tomorrow.

Big Boys -

The minute they are born, they start to grow. The bittersweet battle that will never end and one that we as parents are sure to lose...our children must grow. Eventually they will move out and leave us. Once that day comes we will never truly be involved in their daily lives, not like we are now.

There are days where we can't wait for them to grow older so that they can do things for themselves (shower/bath, fix their own meals, etc). I really want my boys to grow into honest and faithful men. I want them to continue to love their parents and to grab onto knowledge. Become adults that can take care of themselves and their family.

Until that day, Duncan and I will continue to cherish them and support them, hold them tight and give them nothing but love.

Why the sadness? Today was a big day for us. You see Levi, who turned 5 in December, has been promised a big boy bed since his birthday. For Levi's 1st birthday we bought him a Thomas the Train bed. He has grown too big for his beloved bed and has said that it is time for his brother to have it (Alex is not quite 1 yet, however loves playing on the Thomas bed). I have been putting off the new bed for several months now, not quite ready to admit that he is a big boy.

It is so hard to go from this (Levi 2 weeks old):

To this:

Yet here we are, tired from a long day of shuffling furniture around and changing out curtains. Levi is safely tucked into his new John Deere bedding on his new twin bed.

Now it is time to cherish this moment, since I am sure that the next chapter of life will be on us before we know it.

I love you Levi & am so happy that you love your new bed. I hope you have sweet dreams.

Summer is coming...

I feel it. Isn't it so nice. I don't even mind that on such a beautiful and sunny day, that I had to be inside. That is the life of an accountant though...desk job. Just knowing that the sun is shining and the temperature is going above 60 (around 80 would be perfect) is good enough for me.

When I woke up this morning (about 5AM) the sunlight was breaking through my curtains, good morning happy sunshine! Levi even snapped this lovely picture for me, just as I was getting ready to head downstairs to pack my lunch:

The sun was just so bright for so early in the day!!!
You know what was even better? The fact that we came home, had some dinner, AND mowed the whole lawn!

It didn't get dark until after 8pm. Oh, I just love summer and it is coming very soon.

Today's Funny ~

Occasionally I get hilarious emails that I just have to share with everyone. The type that make you chuckle and giggle like you are a kid again, and help lift a mood. I got to work this morning and was feeling a little tired. I started looking at my emails and find this funny:

Today's Inspirational Lesson

Never irritate a woman, who can operate a backhoe ...

Thus endeth the lesson.

I of course had to forward the email to my mom, my aunt, and my cousin. We all live on farms, so we all know how to operate equipment (if the men let us touch said equipment). Just watch out now...we have been schooled! I wonder what the owner of this truck thought when he saw this! Hee, Hee, Hee.

What a good way to start a Wednesday!

Mother's Day ~

Happy Mother's Day too all mommy's out there.
My day was relaxing and the weather was fabulous. I started the morning by playing with the boys, drinking some coffee, and then whipping up some breakfast for all to enjoy.

After breakfast there was painting to be had (I will post later about the dining room decorating, also see the April Post) -

Then it was off to start the 1st picnic of the spring and summer season -

The picnic was followed by lots of playing in the sun, laying in the sun, and watching daddy work in the sun. Then it was time for me to head inside to make this:

Now in general I don't like to make separate meals, however Duncan really wanted the dish on the right, Penne Gorgonzola with Chicken, that was on the cover of my Taste of Home magazine. Well this dish is full of heavy cream and Gorgonzola cheese, which I don't like and which would totally blow my workout success. So I whipped up the dish on the left, Chicken Parmigiana, for myself. FYI - I am a Weight Watchers fanatic, therefore my dish was made in a way to reduce the food points to as low as I could get them.
Of course my eyes were much bigger than my stomach...2/3rds of my plate went into the fridge for lunch and dinner leftovers! (also a plus for my points watching!)

And in case you were wondering...

I did find the time to whip out my mom's curtain, which I delivered to her early this afternoon for Mother's Day.

I'm looking forward to falling asleep and starting my week...why? So I can have another weekend!

I love coming home ~

To This:

My hubby had the day off and being the wonderful boy that he is, he mowed the lawn! Also, Mr. Handyman Duncan planted me some flowers (note the new flower pot) & built a flower wall screen thing (not really sure what it is called). He is going to grow green things up the polls and across the wires, thus hiding the satellite dish! Can we just forget about the dirty dishes from Wednesday night?...he has definitely made up for them!

Oh, also - the beautiful, wonderful sun that is peeking through the trees.
I feel spring coming, welcome spring.

I hear this weekend is supposed to be sunny! Maybe I won't be able to get to my mom's curtain after all!

My Hubby ~

I love my husband. We have known each other since 7th Grade (wow almost 20 years now), we have been together for 14 years, and married for almost 10 years. There is a lot of history, and a lot of love.

That is why I try to forgive this:

He did make dinner and watched the baby last night so I could work out...and this morning he delivered me some of this:

My life blood & what gets me moving in the morning ~

He is such a wonderful man, and good father...so a few dirty dishes & food left out all night can be forgiven.
Plus he takes me on vacations where we enjoy the fun, sun, and drinks:

Valentine's Day (week!) Cruise:

I love you hubby, and I work really hard to not yell and be upset when my kitchen is left dirty. A clean kitchen makes me want to do this for you:

Yummy homemade asparagus quiche or make something else that is equally yummy.

It's Thursday and I can't wait for the weekend. I get to go to the Gym and then shop with Cousin Sally. Then I get to cook, bake, play with the kids, and make my mommy a curtain for her spare bedroom. It's supposed to rain this weekend, so good thing I planned some inside activities.

Hope your week is going good!

1st Race

My first 5 mile race was yesterday 5/1/10, around Capitol Lake. Check in started at 7:30, our race started at 9am. I woke up at 5am, way too excited to sleep. So, I did this:
Empty the clean, fill with the dirty:

After that Alex woke up, needing a new diaper and a bottle. It was then time to head to Sally's to pick up her mom and her.
Sally has been such a great support, and as always been the true runner in the family. She has been running for years! Thanks Sally for all your support & for being willing to do this race with me.

Aunt Judy took the before pictures, so I will need to get our start picture from her. My wonderful Hubby and little one Alex met me at the finish line - he said he was coming, but I didn't want to get my hopes up...and yet, there the two of them were, cheering me on those last steps.
Final Push, not the best picture, Duncan said I was going to fast!

Race Finish Line - Duncan tried to get me as I crossed, you can sort of see my pink shirt. The clock reads 46:26...official times have not been posted - however if this time is accurate then it is my fasted time yet!

I was so happy to finish the race, and to do this:

I just love to snuggle my little guy. Levi is getting to old to want to be held and snuggled. He also leads a very busy life for a 5 year old, so I can't catch him to take pictures or hold him, so I relish the ability to do this with Alex.

I am so glad that I finish the race strong, and that in general I DID IT!!!

Thank you hubby for all your support!!! I love you :)
Now it's off to Grandma P's surprise 80th birthday party (Saturday afternoon). Then home to bake rolls, cupcakes, and meatballs (all from scratch!!!) for my Sis-in-laws baby shower. I love parties and being surrounded by family and friends. Hope sissy doesn't mind that I haven't gotten her a present yet...It's been a little hectic!

Sunday is going to be a fun day!!!!

Hope your weekend is going well.
